Expert Help Needed

Does anyone know how to get QB64 (QBasic 64) to display Japanese characters on the computer screen properly? The program properly reads them in from a file and accepts them as keyboard input, and it writes them out to a file just fine, but they display as garbage (unreadable) on the screen--even when input via the keyboard. I have Japanese IME installed and I loaded the Cyberbit.ttf font, but still cannot get the program to display the Japanese characters in readable format. Please advise if you know how to get Japanese characters to display correctly.

Also, every other piece of software (e.g., Word, Excel, Notepad, Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc) displays the Japanese characters correctly. My OS is Windows 7.
