----------
1. Working with fascia through sensitive touch.
Why fascia? Fascia contains many sensory receptors that detect the body's positional information and free nerve endings that detect pain.
i. Sensory receptors can be stimulated to enhance body awareness (proprioception).
ii. It can reduce pain sensitivity by increasing the threshold of free nerve endings.
iii. It can work on the parasympathetic nervous system to relax the whole body and cultivate a sense of yielding.
2. Provoking Perception & Imagination
Perception of the space around us and the ground supports the proper functioning of our innate "gravity response system" that regulates the balance of our entire body. It optimizes the functions of the three important elements that maintain the body's balance: i) the vision , ii) the feet, and iii) the inner ears (vestibular nerve).
In addition, imagining the movement in advance prepares the body appropriately. "Pre-movement" is a preparatory activity before a movement. Pre-movements support the balance of the torso, which is essential for efficient initiation of major movements.
3. Process-Oriented Movement Therapy
For smooth, effortless movement, it is important that the tonic muscles (stabilizers) and the phasic muscles (actions) work properly, and that the agonist muscles and antagonist muscles work together properly. In conjunction with the pre-movement, the client learns through actual experience how these relationships are working properly by performing slow, small movements. The important point is to experience while making the movements. It does not mean that the practitioner shows the ideal movement and the client imitates it.
