Edo Period fuchi / kashira ( sword handle "aikuchi" and end cap for pommel of sword handle) of a samurai sword for a katana or large sized O-wakizashi sword handle. This set was acquired at the Yasukuni Shrine Sale in Tokyo. Made of shakudo alloy metal composition and also brass inlays.. Note the intricate designs of sakura cherry blossoms often associated with the samurai's view of life as fleeting, temporal, and precious as is the cherry blossom. Please contact me if you are interested in viewing or acquiring this fuchi / kashira set of kodogu parts for your Nihonto katana or wakizashi or as a genuine object of art for appreciation of Japanese craftsmanship dating back to the Edo Period mid-1600's to mid 1800's . Cheers, Hamaki
