Edo Period Iron Tsuba with "Manji" Kamon ( samurai family crest in gold and silver accents) for... in Okinawa

This sword guard is an iron Tsuba dating back to the Edo Period and is in a mokku shape. It is Mumei meaning it is unsigned by its maker. Design depicted is of the " Manji " symbol accentuated in gold and sliver inlayed designs originally a Nepalese peace symbol used in Buddhism, it was adopted and perverted to the "swastika" , and is sometimes confused with that symbol. This symbol was sometimes used a Samurai Family or Clan Crest known as a "kamon" . It has a very nice black/purplish patina and openings for a kozuka / kogatana or other side tool such as a kogai for the saya or koshirae. This tsuba would fit a katana or larger sized wakizashi. Comes in a custom made kiri wood box with satin pillow. Please contact me if you are interested in viewing this tsuba sword guard. Cheers, Hamaki
