A modern Tachi blade made by noted sword smith Minamoto Nissin, from Iwate Prefecture in mainland Japan , who also happens to have a twin brother that is also a respected katana kaji or sword smith. This blade is 62.8 cm in length and has a sori curvature of 1.5 cm and was dubbed the “A.P. blade “, meaning “Almost Perfect” Blade. Its dimensions, sughata , balance, curvature, feel and beautiful jigane surface steel and hamon tempering pattern along with utsuri and ashi in terms of hataraki activity are quite impressive. A slight difference in the kissaki boshi areas where the hamon curves in the tip of the blade is slightly different and not perfectly symmetrical on both sides. . hence the term “almost perfect”. It was the exhibited as the “number one” exhibit at the Sword Exhibition at Chuo Municipal Hall in Iwate Prefecture in Morioka, Japan back in the Fall of 2014. This amazing tachi blade comes with a custom made shirasaya sleeping scabbard made of white magnolia wood known for its properties of not retaining moisture anda tsunagi wooden sword insert for the Koshirae when the blade is kept for preservation and storage in the shirasaya sleeping scabbard. The Koshirae is an authentic Gunto Army Koshirae with leather field scabbard cover, traditional push button unlocking/ locking mechanism, Army officer's tassel, and authentic Gunto kodogu parts of the six piece interlocking seppa, tsuba, and fuchi kashira set, and a high quality copper habaki. The blade was made during the modern era and is considered a modern blade also known as a “Gendaito” from the 1940’s. It has the lawful registration license or "torokshou" from Iwate Prefecture in mainland Japan registered July 15, 2011 in Iwate Prefecture License # 33123. If you are new to collecting and appreciating Japanese blades I can explain the proper care and maintenance to help you with the preservation of these Japanese cultural treasures and can also provide you a free “starter maintenance kit”. This blade is available for delivery or viewing to Kadena, Foster, or Courtney bases or other areas upon request. If you are interested in viewing or acquiring this blade please contact me at your convenience. Cheers , Hamaki
