For the serious colllector or sword enthusiast of genuinely made samurai swords known as “Nihonto “ look no further. This short sword known as a wakizashi is a rare and classic masterpiece of the Osaka Shinto sword making tradition by the noted sword smith "Mutsu no kami Tachibana Tameyasu." This blade has an amazingly beautiful and elegant midare - toranba hamon ( meaning large rolling waves) tempering pattern. It also possesses hataraki activity in the hamon and the jigane and jihada surface steel patterns are of Masame and Itame wood grain patterns . This sword smith group moved from Osaka from kisyu and were employed by the Tokugawa regime . Made during the Genroku( EDO) period . The solid silver habaki is in the "Koshi Yujo" pattern and compliments this wonderful wakizashi and classic example and masterpiece of the Osaka Shinto tradition of sword making . Approximately 49.5 cm hatawari length and 1.2 cm sori curvature with one mekugi ana mounting hole with the meibun signature being inscribed " Mutsu no kami Tachibana Tameyasu". This wakizashi also has the provenance and contestation papers of Tokubetsu Kicho Honzon ( designated "especially precious and worthy of preservation" ) Blue/ Green paper see the photos attached as certified by the main governing sword preservation society in Japan known as the NBTHK. I am willing to help you complete the export paperwork and so you could mail out by bonded and insured Japan EMS International Post if you require this , or I could assist and guide you in doing so for yourself depending on if and when you might to plan to PCS.
